THE ROLE

Work with clients.
Build the systems they need.

01 / UNDERSTAND & SCOPE

Understand the business. Define the right solution.

Frame the client problem, align stakeholders and agree measurable success criteria.

02 / BUILD & DELIVER

Build, integrate and evaluate.

Connect agents to data and tools. Test their behaviour and prepare a controlled rollout.

CAREER PATHS

The skills behind client-facing AI engineering.

Examples of forward deployed engineering roles.

YOUR CAPSTONE PROJECT

Build an agent.
Prove how it performs.

One client use case. Three deliverables to defend before the jury.

A working agentic system

Turn a client brief into a working agent with tool calls, business data and a multi-step workflow. Deliver reusable code and architecture.

Evidence of performance

Build a test suite and execution traces. Measure task success, failure cases, response time and cost per task against agreed acceptance criteria.

A deployment runbook

Define permissions, approval checkpoints and escalation rules. Deliver a runbook covering monitoring, rollback and handover to the client team.

HOW YOU WILL LEARN

Build. Evaluate.
Improve with experts.

  1. Learn & BuildPractise each concept in a focused lab, then apply it to the same client brief.
  2. Apply & ReviewReview your implementation, evaluation results and trade-offs with an expert.
  3. Improve & IntegrateTest the improvement, document what changed and integrate it into your agent.

THE PROGRAMME · 8 WEEKS

Forward Deployed
AI Engineer.

From client brief to deployment. Seven modules. One project. A final jury.

  1. Module01

    Business discovery & process mapping

    • Interview stakeholders; map the workflow, decisions, exceptions and human handoffs.
    • Compare business value, delivery effort and risk; decide where AI or simpler automation fits.
    • Agree the users, scope, data access and responsibilities with the client.
    • Define acceptance criteria, baseline metrics and a testable delivery plan for your capstone.

Your deliverableClient brief + process map + acceptance criteria

  2. Module02

    Data foundations & data readiness

    • Map documents, databases and APIs; verify ownership, access rights and sensitive fields.
    • Check missing values, duplicates, bias and freshness; document data limitations.
    • Build a repeatable ingestion pipeline with source references and update handling.
    • Create a held-out evaluation set covering normal requests, edge cases and unsafe requests.

Your deliverableRepeatable data pipeline + access map + evaluation dataset

  3. Module03

    UX design & rapid prototyping

    • Map the user journey and the decisions the agent may make or must escalate.
    • Prototype the key screens, tool actions and approval steps with AI-assisted tools.
    • Make sources, uncertainty, errors and human takeover clear in the interface.
    • Test realistic tasks with users; turn feedback into a prioritised implementation backlog.

Your deliverableTestable prototype + human handoff flow + user feedback

  4. Module04

AI foundations: models, RAG & agents

    • Compare model capabilities, context limits, latency and cost against your client brief.
    • Build with RAG and tool calls; assess when multiple agents add value.
    • Define orchestration, stop conditions and fallback behaviour for multi-step tasks.
    • Run your evaluation set; compare answer quality, tool-use success, speed and cost per task.

Your deliverableWorking agent + evaluation results + architecture decision record

  5. Module05

    Software engineering & systems integration

    • Structure reusable agent, tool and API components; document contracts and dependencies.
    • Connect business systems with authentication, validation, timeouts and safe retries.
    • Use AI coding assistants with Git, code review and automated integration tests.
    • Package the application with environment configuration, CI/CD and a tested rollback path.

Your deliverableIntegrated agent + reusable components + tests + deployment pipeline

  6. Module06

    Security, performance & system scaling

    • Test prompt injection, data leakage and unsafe tool actions; enforce least privilege.
    • Trace agent behaviour; measure quality, failures, latency and cost.
    • Load-test the workflow; compare caching, queues and model routing against a baseline.
    • Set token budgets and operating limits; test alerts, fallbacks and recovery procedures.

Your deliverableSecurity test results + load report + cost and reliability dashboard

  7. Module07

    AI governance & client handover

    • Define autonomy limits, human checkpoints and escalation rules.
    • Assign owners; document risks, controls and change reviews with ISO/IEC 42001 as a reference.
    • Use evaluation and security evidence to make a go/no-go recommendation for rollout.
    • Prepare a reusable runbook; rehearse client handover, incident response and user onboarding.

Your deliverableGovernance dossier + release checklist + client runbook

  8. Jury08

    Project presentation & jury

    • Demonstrate your agent against the client brief and acceptance criteria in 30 minutes.
    • Show evaluation results, cost per task, failure cases and a human takeover scenario.
    • Defend your architecture, permissions and rollout decision using your test evidence.
    • Hand over reproducible code and a runbook; use jury feedback to prioritise improvements.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Before
you begin.

Talk to an advisor
What does Forward Deployed Engineer mean?

FDE means Forward Deployed Engineer; FDSE means Forward Deployed Software Engineer. The role combines software engineering with direct client work, from scoping to integration and deployment. This programme applies that approach to AI.

Who is this programme for?

Engineers and technical consultants building on existing coding and delivery experience. Develop client-facing AI engineering skills through one assessed agent project. We review your background and preparation needs before enrolment.

Do I need programming experience?

The labs require practical foundations: adapting a script, understanding APIs, Git and testing. We identify any preparation you need before the labs. Prior AI experience helps; the programme involves hands-on technical work.

What is the weekly schedule?

A two-month, eight-week programme. Seven live training sessions run on Saturdays, 9 am–12 pm UAE time (UTC+4), from 7 November to 19 December 2026: 21 training hours. In the final week, on 26 December, each participant presents to the jury for 30 minutes, outside training hours. Individual presentation slots will be confirmed. Plan for 4–6 hours of independent project work each week. Replays and resources are included on the learning platform.

Which languages and tools will I use?

Use code, APIs, RAG and agent tools to develop your capstone. Practise orchestration, evaluation, version control and CI/CD. Choose technologies based on the client brief; document the trade-offs and make your work reproducible.

How do I earn the certificate?

Complete the practical assessments and defend your project before the jury. Show a working agent, evaluation results, cost per task, security controls and human takeover. Submit reproducible code and a deployment runbook.

Can I work on a project from my company?

Yes. Agree a scoped client brief, suitable data and confidentiality requirements with the teaching team. Develop the same project across all seven modules and present your results to the jury.

What are the dates, format and fees?

The English cohort starts on 7 November 2026, live online. Early bird: AED 9,000 including applicable VAT, in three AED 3,000 instalments. The first payment secures your place. Offer ends 1 November, 11:59 pm UAE time.

Which roles does this programme support?

The programme develops skills for forward deployed engineering and client-facing AI delivery. The Accenture, OpenAI and Palantir roles illustrate these responsibilities. Your prior experience, projects and each employer’s requirements remain important.

Are Microsoft and Claude exams included?

Targeted exam preparation is included. Eligibility, exam access and any fees or vouchers are confirmed before enrolment. ISO/IEC 42001 is studied as a governance framework, not an ISO certification.
