Turning visitors into creators of the exhibition’s AI experience
A trade show is visited as a spectator. The Film Commission wanted the opposite: for everyone to enter into a story and come out with their own. We have been designing and operating the Saudi Film Confex AI experience for three consecutive editions, from the visitor's idea to the end-of-day collective screening.
The challenge
Saudi Arabia is building itself as a world centre for cinema, and the show had to show it in ways other than with screens to watch. The challenge: to make each visitor experience, in a few minutes, the entire production chain of a film augmented by AI. With a strong operating constraint: everything had to run live, visitor after visitor, for five days.
What we built
A generator that transforms each visitor's instructions into a unique scene of ten to fifteen seconds, including dialogue.
Camera, light and sound integrated into the chain, to capture the visitor's performance in a real virtual production device.
Colorimetric grading, visual effects and subtitling automatically applied to rushes, without manual intervention between two visitors.
A photobooth application that generates and prints on site the poster of each visitor as the main actor.
A compilation engine that assembles all the scenes of the day into a collective short film, projected live in space.
Three hours and six modules, from writing to editing, including visual effects and music, on a selection of production tools. Each participant leaves with their one-minute short film.
The results
Three consecutive editions, a team of four people on site and a platform developed for the occasion. Each visitor leaves with their own scene and poster, and every evening the space screens the collective film of the day. At the workshop, all participants produce their own one-minute short film.
