Structuring AI deployment across an industrial group
AI Crafters deployed CraftOS at Smardt, working with its partner ASN. The platform uses Claude via API for business agents, with internal-system connectors, data pipelines and shared governance.
The challenge
Smardt needed to centralise its teams’ AI use, control data access and connect agents to the group’s systems. The project brings these needs together in a shared platform hosted on infrastructure controlled by Smardt.
The solution
Claude is used primarily via API in business agents. CraftOS orchestrates exchanges between the model, authorised knowledge, tools and Smardt applications.
AI Crafters develops the platform code, custom agents and integrations. API and MCP connectors link selected systems according to user permissions.
Business documents and data are ingested, processed and indexed. Document retrieval and knowledge updates provide agents with relevant context for their responses.
Classification, masking, routing and blocking govern model calls. The local control layer applies policies before authorised data is sent to the APIs.
SSO, roles, department access and agent permissions define which resources each user can access.
Audit logs, usage monitoring, quotas and consumption tracking by user, model and department give Smardt visibility into AI activity.

Deployed platform and ongoing support
Deployment started in mid-June 2026 and ended on 5 September 2026. The platform and business agents are deployed. Subsequent work provides support and assistance to the teams.
